Mike Studer has been the state apiarist for the Tennessee Department of Agriculture, Consumer and Industry Services Division, since December 2007. He is responsible for regulating and protecting the honey bee industry statewide. He was previously employed by the University of Tennessee’s Department of Entomology and Plant Pathology, serving as a research specialist for 11 years. In that position, he was responsible for researching and diagnosing honey bee pests and diseases for the UT Bee Lab. Mike is past president and current Southern regional director of the Apiary Inspectors of America, and he is past president of the Tennessee Entomological Society.
