The Kuipers family is passionate about connecting people with agriculture and each other through Kuipers Family Farm, which is their agritourism business located just outside of the Chicago suburbs. Wade and Kim started the farm in the late 90’s as a small pumpkin patch, and in the last 20+ years, they have grown the farm to accommodate nearly 150,000 guests each year. The fall season at Kuipers Family Farm encompasses a 50-acre Upic apple orchard and a 30-acre Pumpkin FunFarm, plus a 20,000 square-foot retail store and bakery. In addition to that, Kuipers Family Farm recently added a spring season of events with 8 acres of tulips followed by amazing Dinosaur-themed event to kick off summertime.
Wade is the visionary of the family, and his background in construction has helped the farm infrastructure grow exponentially. Kim has high standards for the “look” of the farm plus a knack for problem solving, and she leads the retail operation. Joe is Kim and Wade’s son, and he has been in the business for 10 years. Joe manages the daily operation of the full-time staff, and he is passionate about the sustainable growth of the farm. Karisa is Joe’s wife, and she married into the family business. Her doctorate in psychology has prepared her to enhance business structures, prioritize team health, and document key processes. Together, the team at Kuipers Family Farm strives for their business to become one of the premier farm destinations in Chicagoland.
