Mike and Sarah Zimmerman, a husband-and-wife team, are the passionate owners of Apple and Dove Flower Farm in Portland, Tennessee. Alongside their specialty cut flowers, they also raise their four children, a herd of Nigerian goats, and other farm animals. Originally from San Diego, they relocated to the Nashville area 15 years ago to pursue their farming dream. As first-generation farmers, they’ve spent the past five years building their farm from scratch, driven by an ever-growing passion for flowers. Mike, who holds an MA in Theology from Vanderbilt, and Sarah, a former veterinary technician, have taken an unconventional path by turning their love for flowers into a thriving business. They sell their blooms through various outlets, including farmers’ markets, wholesale, weekly subscriptions, and their retail flower shop. Additionally, they own the Nashville Cut Flower Collective, where they partner with other local growers to provide the freshest, locally sourced flowers to the public and local florists. Each year, their love for farming and flowers continues to grow, driving the success of their farm and the expansion of their offerings.
